Since concluding a comprehensive partnership agreement with Kesennuma City in 24, our university has co-sponsored a series of public lectures with Kesennuma City for those engaged in the fisheries industry, making use of our knowledge. This season marks the 9th year of the seminar, which deals with a wide range of matters related to marine products, such as resources, processing, distribution, and refrigeration. This time, about 80 people participated, including the audience who gathered face-to-face and online.
“Fish can be sold if you put some effort into it – garbage from the perspective of fishermen, treasure from the perspective of consumers!” Mr. Ryohei Nomoto, CEO of Haneda Ichiba Co., Ltd., gave a lecture as a lecturer.
President Nomoto visits production areas all over the country and builds relationships of trust with producers. Based on his own experience, he explained how to increase the added value of catches.
At the Haneda Fresh Fish Center, after the fresh fish caught that morning from all over the country is brought in according to the flight time of the plane, the temperature of each package is measured and the arrival status is checked. It is strictly confirmed whether it is a thing or not.He explained that the strength of this system, which was built in collaboration with producers and fishermen's cooperatives, is that consumers can grasp information such as the landing date of the fish they purchased.
In order to deliver fish to Tokyo as soon as possible, we use bullet trains and airmail to transport marine products, and in order to return the profits to the producers, President Nomoto has been working on building a new fresh fish distribution platform. The following two issues were pointed out.One is the case where the buyer is absent as a delivery problem. This accounts for XNUMX% to XNUMX% of the total, and since it is a perishable product, creating a system to reliably deliver it to consumers is an issue.Another point was pointed out that many households do not have a place or space where they can easily cook the fish even if the fish itself arrives. In order to expand consumption and expand sales channels, it is necessary to eliminate such bottlenecks. It was suggested that it would be effective to create a system that allows consumers to take over.
In addition, it was pointed out that the number one search keyword on Gurunavi, an information service site for restaurants, etc., surpassed that of "fresh fish" and "sashimi", and that "morning which one!" It was explained that "freshness" is more important.
Many of the participants commented that they were able to gain a good understanding of the necessity and methods of increasing the added value of the fish they catch.Thank you to everyone who attended and to those who sent us their feedback.
We are currently working with Kesennuma City on planning the 3rd series of seminars on "Living with the Sea," and will announce the details on the Sanriku Satellite website as soon as they are finalized.
We will continue to make efforts to contribute to the local community through various opportunities in the future. We look forward to your continued support and cooperation.
