Career Design Course Vol.XNUMX
“Thinking about work style options and employment”
Specially Appointed Professor Kazumi Shiotani (Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology Career Development Office)
After the opening remarks by Director Kanda of the Career Development Office, Specially Appointed Professor Shiotani took the podium, and the last lecture of the year began.
This time and next time (April), I would like to talk about useful content for everyone who is job hunting.
Job hunting has been brought forward two months, and the next few months are the key.I want you to take action now so you don't regret your inaction.I think I can talk from the interviewer's point of view because I was involved in career design training for companies and experienced hiring interviews myself. This year, company information sessions will begin in March, and selection (interviews) will begin in June. However, some large companies and medium-sized companies are said to start interviewing from around April. Therefore, it is necessary to give priority to job hunting for two months from now and concentrate on it at once.
Job hunting is a learning opportunity for self-growth
Generally, ES applicants are narrowed down to one-third before the interview.Furthermore, the competition rate is very high because the candidates are narrowed down to XNUMX/XNUMX after XNUMX-XNUMX interviews.Based on this, I want you to think about how to enter the company you want.Companies are said to be planning to hire roughly the same number of people as last year, which is a good thing. However, preparation is important, and self-analysis and company analysis are essential.Objectively take stock of yourself with keywords and reflect it in ES and interviews. And it is necessary to bring out the characteristics of the ocean and differentiate it from others.Finding a job is one of the big choices in life, so I want you to prepare well and get a full-time job at a good company.
Industry and company research is important
It is good to research companies you are interested in through quarterly reports, etc., or collect information by using the employment support office's system to introduce alumni.A good company for you is one that you can grow yourself. And to be a company that has credibility and is resistant to changes in the environment.Just because you're a marine university doesn't mean you have to join a fisheries company. There are a surprising number of people who are aiming for fields other than marine and fisheries.
Make them want to work with you
In ES and interviews, it is important to convey your impressions in your own words rather than sticking to the form.I want you to know that this will resonate with HR personnel and interviewers and gain empathy. In addition, future growth is seen in executive interviews, and it is necessary to step up the number of interviews by repeating interviews. It is necessary to practice keywords in advance so that you can quickly answer the "XNUMX Questions Asked at Interviews."If you don't, you won't be able to successfully clear the time-limited interview.
Considering XNUMX to XNUMX years as bottom-up
As many as XNUMX/XNUMX of people quit within three years of getting a job after graduating from university.Even though I graduated from university, I am a freshman as a member of society, so even if I join the company, I will not be entrusted with a job with a grudge right away. If you quit after XNUMX years, you won't be able to enjoy your work. In your XNUMXs, you will try various things, and in your XNUMXs, you will narrow down your career. Then, in my XNUMXs, I can finally contribute to the company. In the meantime, people experience setbacks many times, but they should not quit the company even if they do.Your career is ultimately your responsibility.
He concluded the lecture by saying, "The best way to find a job is to consult with job-hunting specialists and receive appropriate support. The Career Development Office accepts interviews at any time."
