Career Design Course Part XNUMX
“What is the communication and teamwork ability required by companies? 』
Specially Appointed Professor Kazumi Shiotani (Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology Career Development Office)
After Mr. Kanda, Director of the Career Development Office, made a speech, Specially Appointed Professor Shiotani took the podium.
At the beginning, Mr. Shiotani started the lecture by stating that there are two meanings to "work."
There are two meanings to work, one is to earn and create profit and value. And to contribute to the organization and society by working. Also, there are people who can work and people who can't.The difference is whether you can create value in your organization.Companies are looking for the three abilities of "the ability to step forward, the ability to think things through, and the ability to work in a team" as "basic skills for working people."Especially in the era of global competition.
We don't expect new employees to be immediately effective, but we expect them to grow and contribute to the company in three to five years.First of all, you need to be able to work with your colleagues in an organization.Don't be too hasty, learn the work from your seniors, and focus on learning the work. For that reason, I want you to cherish the three things of "greetings, thanks, and apologies".In addition, it is important to do verbally and face-to-face, not by e-mail.
Here, a questionnaire to check communication skills and work to graph the results were carried out. This was followed by an explanation of how the results were evaluated.
Communication is the relationship between oneself and the other party, not just self-assertion.If you can empathize with the other person's feelings from the other person's point of view, you can communicate with a deeper sense of trust and relationship. The purpose of communication is to change the behavior of the other party, and it is not enough to tell.
There was an explanation about listening techniques and "Mehrabian law" as listening techniques.
It is important for people to meet and talk, and words, thoughts and actions are linked. If you focus on using affirmative words, you can change your thoughts, feelings, and actions. In addition, according to the Lange theory, by changing one's behavior, one's emotions and thinking can be changed, and the other's behavior and emotions can also be changed.
Next, there was an explanation about the "Johari window".
Through self-disclosure and acceptance, if you widen your empathy zone, awareness will arise. In addition, gradually gaining sympathy from those around them, a sense of camaraderie is formed, and oneself becomes more comfortable.Imagine positive emotions and want yourself to be happy.
Organizations need leadership.Leadership is human influence. Both leadership and followership are required to revitalize the team and connect the vectors to the same great results.
At the end, the trend of new employees was introduced with slides, and Mr. Shiotani gave a message to the participants.
Do your best with the work given to you. There is no life experience that is not useful for work.Rather, companies are looking for people with life experience.I want everyone to try different things and become a T-shaped person. And when you reach your thirties, I want you to take on the challenge of further enhancing your expertise.
"If you are looking for a job next year, please come to the Career Development Office for advice at any time," he concluded the lecture.
