The purpose of this program is to develop specialists for the creation of a blue economy (applied science and technology for sustainable development in coastal and marine areas).We are particularly looking forward to receiving applications from students from SADC and related countries.

Recruitment target

In the case of MEXT scholarship students, students who are eligible to receive MEXT scholarships and conduct research related to the creation of a blue economy.Especially students from SADC and related countries.Nationality does not matter for privately financed international students and Japanese students.

Our Projects

After satisfying the completion requirements of the major to which you belong,

② Participate once a year in the "ASC Seminar" hosted by the Center for Contemporary African Studies (ASC), Tokyo University of Foreign Studies.
However, ② can be replaced with an internship at a company or organization designated by the department.

Outline of program

This program aims to train highly specialized professionals for aid of creating Blue Economy, the applied science and technology for sustainable development in coastal and ocean areas. Students from SADC and its related countries are highly encouraged for application.

Application qualification

Students who will study on themes related to Blue Economy creation, especially from SADC and its related countries.

Program contents

In addition to completing the requirements of your faculty and major, it is mandatory to participate in the following activities:

(1) Marine Science Seminar.

(2) "ASC seminar" organized by ASC African Studies Center, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies once a year. However, the ASC seminar can be replaced by other internship activities at companies / organizations designated by Course of Applied Marine Environmental Studies.
