東京海洋大学では、2024年4月から、1時限あたりの授業時間をこれまでの90分から105分に変更し、前学期を第1?第2クォーター、後学期を第3?第4クォーターに区分した4学期制（クォーター制）を導入します。

     From April 2024, Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology (TUMSAT) have determined to start Four-Semester System (Quarter System) in which class time per period will be changed from 90 minutes to 105 minutes, and the First semester will be divided into First and Second quarters, and the Second semester into Third and Fourth quarters.

     This change will allow for a longer summer break than the current system, improving off-campus study (study abroad, study in regional area, mid- to long-term internships, volunteer activities, summer school, etc.), and enable a variety of classes, such as active learning using the expanded class time, thereby encouraging independent learnings.

   On the other hand, the starting and the ending time of classes will be changed, which may affect your study activities and the private student life. Details will be announced as soon as they are determined.
