Special exhibition at the entrance of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, "The door to the ultra-deep sea: The path of our research"
We are pleased to inform you that we will hold a special exhibition of our university, "A door to the ultra-deep sea, the trail of our research" at the "MEXT Information Square" on the XNUMXnd floor of the new Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology building.
Deep-sea and ultra-deep-sea research at Tokyo University of Fisheries and its successor, Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology, began in 1958 with a joint survey with the French submersible "Bathyscaphe FNRS III" and continues to the present day.In August of last year, a camera captured a snailfish (Snailfish family) swimming at a depth of 8 meters in the Izu-Ogasawara Trench.This makes it the deepest confirmed fish in the world.In this special exhibition, we will display the highlights of our deep-sea and ultra-deep-sea research.
