At the launching ceremony, President Toshio Iseki performed the naming and cutting of the branch line, and the ship was launched. The new “Hiyodori” is Reiwa6Years3Delivered to the moon.

The current “Hiyodori” is from the Heisei era.2Since its completion in XNUMX, it has been used for training in oceanography, marine resources and energy, fisheries science, and freshmen seminars, making a major contribution to basic education in ocean observation. We have also conducted surveys of plankton and larvae in coastal shallow waters and estuary areas that are difficult to navigate with large ships, mainly in Tokyo Bay, as well as surveys of marine microplastics, which have been attracting attention in recent years. The new Hiyodori will continue to carry out such educational and research activities, and will serve as an indispensable platform for the university's educational and research activities.
