 Every year, the Japan Meteorological Agency6Month1On this day, which is Meteorological Day, we award those who have made outstanding contributions to meteorological work.149This year marks the 100th Meteorological Memorial Day, and in the Ship (Weather Reporting) category, our university's training ship, Umitaka Maru, was awarded the Japan Meteorological Agency Commissioner's Award for its many years of reliable and consistent observation and reporting of maritime weather and its contribution to the development of meteorological services.

 The certificate of appreciation ceremony6Month18On Tuesday, the 2nd, Mr. Susumu Goto, Director of the Marine Weather Information Office of the Japan Meteorological Agency, and Mr. Aoyagi Akinori, Coordinator for the Global Environmental Observation Program, visited our university and presented a letter of appreciation and a plaque to Captain Hayashi Toshifumi of the Umitaka Maru and Director of the Ship and Marine Operations Center Minami Kiyokazu.

 At the award ceremony, the students were given an opportunity to see how enthusiastically they engaged in marine meteorological observation during their practical training on the Umitaka Maru, and to exchange opinions on the importance of marine meteorological observation in the future.
