Public announcement of disciplinary actions
Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology, a national university corporation (hereinafter referred to as "the University"), found the following facts against the professor and imposed a one-month suspension on him as disciplinary action, effective August 23, 2024.
For about a year and a half, the professor did not provide guidance on correcting the manuscripts of his students' submitted papers without explaining the reason, which resulted in causing the students great disadvantage and suffering in their academic studies.
The professor's actions violate Article 4 (Staff Responsibilities) of the National University Corporation Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology's regulations on the prevention of harassment, etc., and are contrary to his main duties as a faculty member at the university, which is to educate students. They also violate Article 36 (Fundamental Standards of Service), Article 37 (Obligation to Obey Laws, Regulations, and Duties in the Course of Duty), and Article 38 (Prohibition of Conduct that Brings Discredit to the University) of the National University Corporation Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology's Employment Regulations for Staff. Pursuant to Article 33, the professor will be subject to a one-month suspension as disciplinary action.
