On October 2023, 10, eight officials from Pakistan's Fisheries Department and three leaders from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province visited our university as part of the 13 JICA Pakistan Country Training.
Country-specific training programs planned by JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) allow administrative officials and engineers from developing countries to acquire knowledge and skills through training in Japan, and through the sharing of knowledge and experience among participants. The aim is to solve problems commonly faced by developing countries. The theme of the 2023 Pakistan Country Training is the promotion of aquaculture in the province.
At our university, Professor Katsuyuki Hamasaki, head of the Department of Marine Bioresources, gave an overview of our university and introduced the Department of Marine Bioresources, followed by an introduction to the breeding room of Associate Professor Masato Endo (Department of Marine Bioresources), Marine Science Museum, and Sano University. We visited the laboratory of Professor Motohiko (Department of Marine Bioresources). The participants listened intently to the instructor's explanations and actively asked questions aimed at solving problems in aquaculture in their own countries.
Our university will continue to actively cooperate with international support projects that contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
