From November 2022th to December 11rd, 28, with the support of JST Sakura Science Project, we invited 12 students and 3 Thai faculty member from Burapha University in Thailand to conduct the Overseas Expedition EAST Program 10.The themes of the program are as follows.

Exploring Governance and Entrepreneurship to Realize Sustainable Fisheries
-Governance and Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Fisheries-

Program outline: 　Yakumo, the only fishing town in Japan bordering on two seas, is nationally famous for its scallop farming.On the other hand, due to the effects of global warming, a decrease in fish catches and a serious impact on marine aquaculture are occurring.For this reason, we are working on new land-based aquaculture and marine products businesses that are less susceptible to environmental changes.In this program, you will learn about Yakumo Town's efforts to develop fisheries technology, administrative governance, and entrepreneurship of local companies to revitalize the fishing industry.

　After receiving an introduction to the university and taking a tour of the campus, the students of Burapha University learned about the current state of the fishing industry and fisheries in Yakumo-cho, Nikai-gun, Hokkaido the next day, and visited various seedling production facilities.After returning to Tokyo and presenting the results of this training at our university, we also held a presentation at Bunkyo Gakuin University Girls' High School.

　These activities provided a good opportunity for the students of Burapha University and our university to deepen their exchanges, and also gave us great hints to think about the same issues faced by the society of our own countries for the students studying fisheries at Burapha University and our students who interacted with us. rice field.
