After the meeting, they toured the Marine Science Museum, visited the laboratory of Professor Keiichi Uchida (Department of Marine Resources and Energy Science), who specializes in marine debris issues such as marine microplastics, and had the opportunity to experience operating a ship simulator. Barbados is an island nation located at the easternmost tip of the Caribbean Sea, and while it is blessed with marine resources, it faces challenges such as the effects of rising sea levels due to climate change and the overgrowth of Sargassum, a seaweed that causes a foul odor. Our university will continue to consider these issues and the possibility of future cooperation in marine research with Barbados.
