Norwegian Arctic University faculty and staff visited our university

International exchange / study abroad

In January 5, Professor Jorge Santos and International Senior Advisor Astrid Solidid Brokke from the Norwegian Arctic University, with which our university has an international exchange agreement, visited our university. This visit was made possible by the adoption of the 1 Erasmus Plus Faculty Mobility Program. Through participating in the program and interacting with faculty, staff and students, I deepened my understanding of the university's education and research.

On the first day, we had a talk with Masashi Maita, Executive Vice President for Education and International Affairs, exchanged opinions and shared information for the expansion of exchanges in the future. We toured the Shinagawa Campus facilities such as the Marine Science Museum. From the next day onwards, there will be a tour of Etchujima Campus facilities (Meiji Maru Museum, Marine AI Development Evaluation Center, etc.), a tour of training ships (Sunbird, Shintaka Maru), Professor Hayato Kondo (Maritime Systems Engineering Division), and Professor Hiroyasu Kifune. (Marine Electromechanical Engineering Division) and Assistant Professor Naoki Kabeya (Marine Bioresources Division), and received an explanation of the research contents of our university. In addition, as part of student exchange, Professor Santos will hold a special lecture in the doctoral program on the themes of Norwegian fisheries and aquaculture and cross-cultural understanding, as well as a study abroad information session for students interested in studying in Norway. Held and deepened exchanges with students. On the final day, we set up an opportunity to exchange opinions with administrative staff of our university, and it was a very fulfilling opportunity for both parties to learn about the efforts of each other's universities.

The Norwegian Arctic University is the world's northernmost international Arctic research base, established in Tromso, northern Norway. We will continue to collaborate with the Norwegian Arctic University, focusing on common research fields such as fisheries and marine engineering.
