The Department of Marine Environmental Science provides education in the knowledge and skills necessary to elucidate the dynamics of the ocean, which is essential for building a sustainable society for humankind, and to solve various issues related to environmental conservation and utilization. We aim to develop highly specialized professionals. The marine environment and ecosystem are closely related to the elements of physics, chemistry, biology, and geology. It consists of two departments: ``Marine Science,'' which educates and researches connections, and ``Marine Biology,'' which educates and researches the interactions between diverse marine organisms and the environment. We also place emphasis on education in basic subjects.
The purpose of this recruitment is to strengthen the faculty system responsible for basic education in marine environmental science, and we are seeking individuals who have knowledge of marine bioorganic chemistry or marine natural product chemistry and can conduct education and research from an organic chemistry perspective.
The faculty member in question will also have sufficient research achievements to be involved in education and research at the Graduate School of Marine Science and Technology, and will be proactive in contributing to the university's basic chemistry education.
The main undergraduate lecture subjects that the successful candidate will be responsible for are Organic Chemistry II, Introduction to Chemistry III, and Chemical Experiments. However, the faculty member to be hired for this department is expected to conduct education and research related to marine environmental chemistry subjects, taking into consideration their position and aptitude. In addition, the following are examples of subjects that are taught or assigned to by faculty members affiliated with the relevant education and research field.
