Aquatic Reproductive Engineering and Infectious Disease Control Research Institute (tentative name)

　Our university is the first in the world to successfully develop various reproductive engineering techniques using aquatic organisms. In order to further improve and expand these technologies, Reiwa2The Institute of Aquatic Reproductive Engineering, which was established in 2019, is6From fiscal year 2020, the Institute will be renamed the Institute for Aquatic Reproductive Engineering and Infectious Disease Control (tentative name), and will strengthen its research division on infectious disease control. Among these, the faculty member will be in charge of the field of disease prevention using fish and shellfish species targeted for aquaculture. In particular, we will use genome sequence information of hosts and pathogens to understand disease resistance mechanisms in fish and shellfish: interactions between hosts (disease resistance) and pathogens (virulence), and utilize this knowledge to promote disease prevention and disease resistance breeding. We conduct a wide range of education and research, including technological development and practical application.
