Our university is the first in the world to successfully develop various reproductive engineering techniques using aquatic organisms. In order to further improve and expand these technologies, Reiwa2The Institute of Aquatic Reproductive Engineering, which was established in 2019, is6From fiscal year 2020, the Institute will be renamed the Institute for Aquatic Reproductive Engineering and Infectious Disease Control (tentative name), and will strengthen its research division on infectious disease control. Among these, the faculty member will be in charge of education and research in the field of pathogens and diagnosis using fish and shellfish species targeted for aquaculture. In particular, we will apply genome science research that uses big data such as nucleotide sequence information and cutting-edge technology such as parallel nucleic acid sequencers to elucidate the immune and disease resistance mechanisms of fish and shellfish, and based on genome sequence information of pathogens. We conduct education and research aimed at developing diagnostic methods for diseases. Furthermore, we will utilize this knowledge to develop new products for seafood.DNAEducation and research activities include the development of vaccines, live attenuated vaccines, and immunostimulants, and the establishment of screening techniques for these. The courses I plan to teach are as follows. [Faculty] (Department of Marine Bioresources, Faculty of Marine Life Sciences) Molecular biology, genetic engineering, genetic engineering experiments, freshman seminars, seminars, graduation research, etc. [Graduate School Master's Program] (Department of Marine Life Resources Science, Department of Marine Biotechnology) Genetic biochemistry, Basics of Marine Life Science I, Basics of Marine Life Science II, Fish and Shellfish Genome Science, etc. [Graduate School Doctoral Program] (Department of Applied Life Sciences, Applied Bioengineering Field) Genome science, etc. |
