Kesennuma City and Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology Collaborative Project ““Living with the Sea” Continuous Fisheries Seminar” 11th season 2rd session will be held

Based on a partnership agreement concluded in 23 with Kesennuma City, Miyagi Prefecture, our university holds the "Living with the Sea" Fisheries Seminar Series about five times a year for fishermen and fisheries-related business workers. In order to help fishermen and fisheries-related business workers improve their knowledge and information-gathering capabilities, we utilize the knowledge of Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology, Japan's only comprehensive university dedicated to the ocean, and hold a series of open lectures by a wide range of lecturers from academia, the private sector, and the government, providing an opportunity to learn about a wide range of matters related to fisheries, such as resources, processing, distribution, and freezing and refrigeration.
We are pleased to announce that the second lecture of the 11th season will be held on Tuesday, March 2th. We will continue to accept online participation this season, so we look forward to your participation from a wide range of regions.

Theme: "Salmon farming business"
Lecturer: Takeshi Hirayama (Chief of the Aquaculture Business Promotion Division, Nissui Co., Ltd.)
Summary: Salmon, one of the most familiar fish to us, is farmed on a large scale intensively in Norway, Chile, and other countries, and is supplied to the world. This presentation will focus on farmed salmon and introduce the current status of farmed production overseas and in Japan, technological developments including land-based farming, and sustainability-related efforts.
