"Career Path Seminar for Female High School Students" was held.At Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology, we are focusing on human resource development, especially for female researchers, for the global age. Therefore, as part of the next-generation female researcher development project, we held the "Career Path Seminar for Female High School Students" mainly for female high school students. This seminar will be a reference for high school students to think about their future by introducing university life, work experiences, and experiences by active female college students and senior women working in society. This is an event for you.I will report the situation of the day.
On November 11th (Sun), a sunny autumn Sunday, we held a Career Path Seminar for High School Girls at the Etchujima Campus of Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology. On this day, the entire Etchujima Campus was used to hold an open campus for the Faculty of Ocean Engineering, and many people visited the university from the morning.
When the reception started at 14:30, not only those who had made reservations in advance, but also many people who said, "I got a leaflet when I came to see the open campus," and "Look at the poster." About 35 people gathered, including a small seminar room.
★At 15:XNUMX, the “Career Path Seminar for High School Girls” finally started.Vice President Toshiro Takeuchi, Director of the Office for the Promotion of Gender Equality, who hosted the event, gave the opening remarks. The moderator was Professor Reiko Ikeda, Director of the Support Organization for Women Researchers, Gender Equality Promotion Office.
★As a senior working woman First of all, a keynote speech from a senior working woman. The keynote speaker was Ms. Yuko Suzuki, who was the secretary general of the university until last year.Ms. Suzuki talked about her career path up to now, and what kind of life she should lead from now on, sharing her experience as a university student and as a member of society. I was told about how to assemble the career of.
★Seniors and direct free talk Next, I heard about university life from seniors (college students and graduate students) who are currently studying at Marine University.
This time, we divided into groups of several people and had a free talk format where we listened directly to what they had to say.The seniors also brought various tools and explained what kind of daily life they had at university, just like her, who could easily convey an image to the high school students.Students who were looking for a job showed their job hunting style, and some students showed off their training style that they would actually wear during their practical training.Perhaps because of that, I could hear happy laughter here and there, and each group was lively talking.
★Advice from the OGs During the break, we asked two graduates (OGs) to give a lecture entitled "What it means to become a member of society and to get a job."
Both of the OGs gave us a strong but stern yet kind words about "the mindset as a member of society" and "what we should do to make our dreams come true".Mr. Kobayashi, who is currently working for Nippon Kaiji Kyokai, and Mr. Sato, who is working for the Japan Weather Association. The "Rikejo of the future" female high school students listened intently to the two "Rikejo" who are currently very active.
★After the lecture, we will have a social gathering together. It seemed that flowers were blooming in exchanges with seniors who were in different groups in the free talk. Finally, the Dean of the Graduate School and Professor Masamasa delivered a closing speech.
