It was held at the Etchujima Campus (Etchujima Kaikan 2016nd Floor Seminar Room) on July 7, 29 (Friday), coinciding with the Open Campus of the Faculty of Ocean Engineering.It is aimed at female students who want to learn about the sea and want to work, and every year we invite graduates who are engaged in marine and maritime-related work to hold a mini lecture + social gathering event.As one of the summer open campus programs of the Faculty of Marine Engineering, it is an initiative to introduce the reasons for entering university, career paths after graduation, and jobs. of people participated.
Two graduates of the Faculty of Ocean Engineering (Sawaka Kosugi from Eagle Industry Co., Ltd. and Misa Matsuno from Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd.) came to give lectures in the first half of the seminar.At the beginning, Ms. Kosugi gave a presentation titled "An example of a female engineer," and talked about her motivation for taking the exam and her current job. He enthusiastically talked about the tips for achieving the goal.
Next, Mr. Matsuno talked about his career as a 'marine engineer', the types of ships he has worked on, his reasons for wanting to be a 'sailor', his training experience during his university days, and his actual experience on a ship. She introduced the hardships and joys of the ship while showing photos from inside and on board.Mr. Matsuno, who is currently working onshore and is a first officer, said, "Since I started this path at 18, I haven't been on land for a whole year." rice field.
After a break, the students were divided into two groups for the second half of the session, where they held a free-to-talk discussion session titled "Let's talk about campus life and job hunting with seniors!"It was a lively moment when various questions flew about, such as the reason for choosing the university and the contents of the training, worries about job hunting, current job details, etc.Some of them asked specific questions, such as "I want to be a sailor, but isn't there a disadvantage for women?"A large number of the participants were students who wished to find employment related to ships, as they could hear valuable stories that are rarely heard.Parents and guardians can also attend, so the number of high school students participating with their parents is increasing every year.Parents who wrote in the questionnaire commented, "As a parent, I was relieved to have the opportunity to talk directly with a female senior," and "I felt relieved to hear the senior sailor's story, and wanted to support my daughter's dreams." It was impressive.Every year, several participants actually go on to study at our university, making it a very effective event.
