On Friday, July 2013th, 7, we held a Career Path Seminar for Female Students at the Etchujima Campus (Etchujima Kaikan 26F Seminar Room).
It was held on the same day as the Autumn Open Campus of the Faculty of Ocean Engineering every year, but this year it was held in conjunction with the Summer Open Campus. Therefore, not only our students but also many high school students and their parents participated.
This time, three graduates of the Faculty of Marine Engineering (Mr. Saki Kawada from Yazaki Energy System Co., Ltd., Ms. Yuko Masaki from Yanmar Co., Ltd., Ms. Chihiro Nishizaki from the National Maritime Research Institute) visited us. I gave lectures to graduate students and high school students.
First, Mr. Kawata talked about his student days, why he got a job in the manufacturing industry, and why people with science backgrounds can be active in sales. Thank you for talking to me.In particular, while looking back on his own experiences, he gave a powerful message: "Because this is a unique university that specializes in the ocean, let's broaden our horizons and grow ourselves."
Next, Mr. Masaki talked about his thoughts on going to university and job hunting under the title of "What does it mean to be a member of society and to get a job?" rice field. In addition, as a working mom who balances work and childcare, she also introduced the flow of her day and what she keeps in mind in balancing work and work. There are many things that don't go as planned when you start working, but I received a message of encouragement saying that if you do your best, you will gain something in the future.
The third person, Mr. Nishizaki, was entitled "What does it mean to work in society? - The fields of sea and ships? What is a research career?" Thank you.Based on his experience from college to the present, he told me that "studying during school days is useful in society", and gave me advice on what to do during college and what to do when I am unsure of my career path.In order to be able to study and work in a way that interests me, I think it was a great encouragement to the current students and high school students to talk about what to do in an easy-to-understand manner.
In the second half, we were divided into three groups and held a free talk-style social gathering "Let's talk about campus life and job hunting with seniors!"It was a lively time when various questions such as the reason for choosing the university, memories of practical training, job hunting and current work details flew.
In the participants' questionnaire, many of them commented that they were able to hear specific advice directly from their seniors, such as what they should have done while they were students, and that their motivation for job hunting increased. rice field. In addition, some students wishing to go on to higher education commented that by studying at our university, they would be able to specifically understand what kind of work they would be able to do in society, and that their hopes for the future had increased.
We would like to thank all the undergraduate and graduate students, as well as high school students who wish to study at our university and their parents, for their participation.
