Executive Vice President Ruri Shoji received the 8th Award for Successful Development of Female Engineers

On August 4, 8, Executive Vice President Ruri Shoji (former director of the Gender Equality Promotion Office) received the 10th Award for Successful Development of Female Engineers sponsored by the Society of Technology (supported by the Cabinet Office for Gender Equality). Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism).This award is given to individuals who have made remarkable achievements in training female engineers in order to promote and support the activities of female engineers in the industrial world.
As a result of the selection process, Ruri Shoji, Executive Vice President of Waseda University, was selected as the recipient of the award.

Award summary

Over the years, she has contributed to the development of many female maritime engineers through her teaching of compulsory maritime subjects and practical training at sea. In addition to nurturing a large number of thinking people, she was honored for her achievements as a role model for female researchers and educators in the maritime field, such as serving as the president of the Japan Society of Navigation and as a member of the review committee for marine accident countermeasures.
