To students who need emergency assistance due to the spread of the novel coronavirus (Notice regarding learning support loans) 5/29 Update

 Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology will provide learning support loans to students in need of livelihood support due to situations such as a sudden change in family finances or a decline in income from part-time jobs due to the effects of the spread of the novel coronavirus, as well as to students who need to prepare a computer and communications environment to take online classes.
 If you would like to apply, please prepare the following documents and submit them to the Endowment Section, Endowment Division by postal mail during the application period.

1.Eligibility

Students enrolled in an undergraduate school, graduate school, the Advanced Course for Maritime Science and Technology, or the Advanced Onboard Training Course for Mercantile Marines (excluding non-degree students, postgraduate students, special auditing students, and special research students) who fall under any of the following:
(1) Students for whom the payment of necessary school expenses has become temporarily difficult due to reasons such as family finances
(2) Students who need assistance to prepare a computer and communications environment in order to take online classes
(3) Other students requiring temporary assistance
Application for re-lending (Maximum120,000yen) is now possible.
If you have already received a loan and wish to re-lend it, please contact the Endowment Section.

2. Learning support loan (hereinafter, "loan")

A lump-sum payment of ?60,000.
This is an interest-free loan(The loan must be repaid at a later date.)

3.Application period

Tue., April 28, 2020 - Mon., August 31, 2020 (as indicated by the postmark on the envelope)←Application period has been extended.
(There is no change in the return date)

4. Application procedures

Please submit the following documents by postal mail (simple registered mail or a traceable method such as Letter Pack) to the Endowment Section, Endowment Division within the "application period" indicated in 3 above.
In order to facilitate the procedure, if your cosigner lives in a remote location, it is acceptable to have a cosigner who is not a parental guardian as long as that person is an adult living in the Kanto region. a parental guardian to be your cosigner, your parental guardian will be asked to submit a letter of consent at a later date.

? Bank account notifications
 (the transfer can be made only to the account of the student or the cosigner)
? Attach a copy of the first page of a bankbook (the part showing the account name (in kana) and the account number) or a copy of the front side of a cash card.

5.Where to submit the application

6. Selection of loan recipients

The university president will select and decide loan recipients based on the documents submitted by applicants.

7.Issuance of loan

The University plans to transfer the money to the savings account designated by students selected as loan recipients (the account must be at a Japanese financial institution, and the funds cannot be forwarded to an overseas branch) on the date designated by the University (Friday, May 15 for applications received by Friday, May 8, 2020, and the Friday of the week following application arrival for applications received after Friday, May 8, 2020).

8. Repayment of loan

The loan repayment must be completed by Monday, December 28, 2020.
The repayment method is to be transfer of cash into an account designated by the University. You shall bear the transfer fee. You may make the transfer by internet banking.
Please specify the remitter's name as your "Student number Student name" in half-width characters (eg, 1234567 Kaiyo Taro).

9.Repayment request from the University

If a student selected as a loan recipient falls under any of the following, the University will request immediate repayment of the loan.
? If you withdraw from the university or take a leave of absence before the repayment deadline
? If you receive a disciplinary punishment stipulated in the University's regulations
? If any of the contents of your application turn out to be untrue
? If any other fact comes out that would result in you being deemed inappropriate as a loan recipient
