7/26 Career Path Seminar was held at Etchujima Campus

On Friday, July 2013th, 7, we held a Career Path Seminar for Female Students at the Etchujima Campus (Etchujima Kaikan 26F Seminar Room).
At the Etchujima Campus, it was held on the same day as the Autumn Open Campus of the Faculty of Ocean Engineering, but this year, it was held in conjunction with the Summer Open Campus.Therefore, not only our students but also many high school students and parents participated.
This time, three graduates of the Faculty of Marine Engineering (Mr. Saki Kawada from Yazaki Energy System Co., Ltd., Ms. Yuko Masaki from Yanmar Co., Ltd., Ms. Chihiro Nishizaki from the National Maritime Research Institute) visited us. I gave lectures to graduate students and high school students.
At the beginning, Mr. Kawata talked about his school days, why he got a job in the manufacturing industry, and why people with a science background can play an active role in sales. And so on.In particular, while looking back on his own experiences, he gave a powerful message: "It's a waste to judge something just because it's this way." Thank you.
Next, Mr. Masaki talked about his own university entrance and job hunting, his current job, and what he felt while actually working under the title of "What does it mean to become a member of society and to get a job?" About Thank you for talking.She also introduced the flow of a day as a working mother who balances work and childcare, and what she tries to keep in mind when balancing work and work.There are many things that don't go as planned when you start working, but I received a message of encouragement saying that if you do your best, you will gain something in the future.
Mr. Nishizaki, the third speaker, gave a talk titled "What does it mean to work in society? Sea and ship fields? What is a research career?" Thank you.Based on his experience from his university days to the present, he told me that "studying during school days is useful in society", and gave me advice on what to do during my university days and what to do when I was unsure of my career path.Students and high school students were greatly encouraged by their easy-to-understand explanations of what they should do in order to be able to study and work in ways that interest them.
In the second half, we were divided into three groups and held a free talk-style social gathering "Let's talk about campus life and job hunting with seniors!"It was a lively time when various questions such as the reason for choosing the university, memories of practical training, job hunting and current work details flew.
In the participants' questionnaire, many of them commented that they were able to hear specific advice directly from their seniors, such as what they should have done while they were students, and that their motivation for job hunting increased. rice field.In addition, some students wishing to go on to higher education commented that studying at the university gave them a concrete understanding of what kind of work they would be able to do in society, and that their hopes for the future had increased.
