Faculty of Marine Resources and Environment
Faculty of Marine Resources and Environment
Faculty introduction
In order for humankind to maintain peace and prosperity for generations to come, we must use limited resources and renewable energy effectively while preserving the environment. The Faculty of Marine Resources and Environment places emphasis on "resources and the environment," and conducts research from a wide range of perspectives, from basic to applied research on the ocean, marine life, resources, renewable energy, etc., and educates human resources who can contribute to future human society. is proceeding.Students of this faculty comprehensively study the "ocean" in order to achieve both "conservation and utilization of the marine environment" and "sustainable and effective use of marine resources."After graduating, students will play an active role in society as human resources with practical skills and experience, who can flexibly deal with various problems, based on a wide range of knowledge in marine science.

Relationship between Faculty of Marine Resources and Environment and SDGs
We are conducting comprehensive education and research across the fields of physics, chemistry, biology, and geology, targeting the space that extends from the sea to the seabed, the seabed, and even the crust. In addition, regular long-term observations of the ocean at various spatial scales, from inner bays and coastal areas to offshore and open ocean areas, as well as from the red tract to the north and south polar regions, will reveal the structure of the ocean itself. We are also working to understand the structure and function of marine ecosystems, establish technology to predict their changes, and elucidate the mechanisms of climate change. As a result of these efforts, we will be able to acquire essential knowledge and technology for the smart and sustainable use of marine biological and inanimate resources.Furthermore, we are promoting education, research, and technological development related to the use of renewable energy obtained from the ocean.Activities in these diverse fields range from microscopic observations under a microscope to macroscopic (global) scale investigations across the globe. In terms of time, it encompasses ephemeral phenomena of a few seconds, minutes, and hours to long geological chronological phenomena of billions of years. All of these are positioned as activities aimed at achieving the SDGs.
Introduction of each department
Department of Marine Environmental Science
We aim to develop highly specialized professionals who are interested in the marine environment and organisms, and who have the knowledge and skills to think and solve problems on their own, based on the knowledge and skills they have broadly acquired regarding various issues related to these issues.
Department of Marine Resources and Energy
Cultivate highly skilled professionals who are interested in various technologies for using marine resources and energy, and who have the knowledge and skills to think and solve problems on their own, based on the knowledge and skills they have broadly acquired regarding various issues related to these issues. Aim.
